Wollaston Medal 2021

Main content start

The Council of the Geological Society of London awarded David Pollard the Wollaston Medal for 2021. This is the Society’s highest career award and is given to geoscientists who have had a significant influence by means of a substantial body of excellent research in either or both 'pure' and 'applied' aspects of the science. The Geological Society was founded in 1807 and this Medal was first awarded by the Society in 1831.

The menu on the left directs you to pages that describe who Wollaston was and how he endowed the Wollaston Award; why the Wollaston Medal is made of the chemical element Palladium; David Pollard's response in receiving the Wollaston Award; and the abstract for Pollard's talk at the Award's Ceremony.
